On Sunday afternoon, November 11, 2007 the Fox Valley SDA Women's Ministry held their annual dinner banquet at Casa di Luigi Italian Restaurant in Neenah, Wisconsin. Twenty-five beautiful ladies attended the event. This year's formal banquet culminated the women's small group study of the book "Beautiful in God's Eyes" by Elizabeth George. Our speaker, Maria Lopez from the Family Life Ministry Committee for our SDA Conference delivered a vibrant message based on George's book which is a study of the Proverbs 31 woman. Lopez made use of our banquet theme, "God's Sparkling Jewel", a reference to the beauty of a woman in the eyes of God. She stressed that God is glorified when we reflect His image, shining forth to the world a reflection of His character. As precious gems we sparkle in God's eyes. Lopez put forth: "All are called; few are chosen." Just as among thousands of shells, only a few contain a pearl, a gem, those of us who accept God's call are the chosen, the jewels. Lopez concluded, when we witness for Jesus, we cannot contain our joy; we have to spread what He has done for us.
We were blessed to have soloist Joyce Smith from Milwaukee minister to us with power and beauty. Among her songs was "My Tribute" proclaiming "To God be the glory".
Worship leader, Theresa Karpeck from our Fox Valley SDA Church led us in hymns of reverent and joyful praise of God and ackowledgement of Jesus Christ's lone ability to quench our souls. Lastly, we affirmed our commitment to Jesus, singing "I Surrender All".
Thanks go to the staff of Casa di Luigi's for a lovely setting and a delicious dinner as well as to Women's Ministry Committee members Melynda Kufahl, Nikki Foreman, Carol Buchholz and Betsy Borchardt.
